One of the best ways to show respect for your school, your classmates, and yourself is by taking care of the space we all share. This week’s Kindness Challenge: ✅ Throw trash away ✅ Clean up after yourself at breakfast and lunch ✅ Respect the bathrooms ✅ Show pride in your school and community Remember, when we don’t take care of our school, others have to pick up the pieces. It was a wonderful reminder of how strong and supportive our community truly is.

🎓 Swain Middle School – 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony 🎓 We are excited to invite families, friends, and our school community to celebrate the 8th Grade Class of 2025 as they move up to high school! Date: Tuesday, May 27th Time: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM Location: Swain County High School Gymnasium This is a special milestone for our 8th grade students, and we look forward to honoring their hard work, growth, and achievements. Let’s pack the gym and celebrate together!

🏅 FREE Sports Physicals – Don’t Miss Out! 🏅 Get ready for the season! All student-athletes are required to have a current sports physical to participate in school-sponsored athletics. 📍 Where: Swain High School 📅 When: May 19th from 3pm-until 🚌 Transportation Provided: A bus will be available to take Middle School students to the high school. 📄 Physical forms are available in the school’s front office or from Coach Ledford in the gym.

📣 Weekly Act of Kindness Challenge – Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎✨ It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and we’re inviting all Swain Middle students to join our Kindness Challenge to help celebrate the amazing educators and staff who make a difference every day! 🎯 Your Mission: Do one act of kindness each day to show your appreciation! Here are some ideas to get started: 📝 Write a thank-you note 💬 Give a compliment 🧹 Help clean up the classroom 🎨 Create a card or piece of art 😊 Say “thank you” with a smile Let’s come together and show our teachers just how much they’re appreciated. 💛

🏅 Swain Middle Track & Field Shines at NC State Meet! 🏅 We are incredibly proud of our Swain Middle School track and field athletes who competed in the North Carolina Middle School State Track Meet this weekend! Lily Millsaps brought home the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in the discus with an amazing throw of 91 ft 8 in and is now an NC Middle School All-State Champion! Corbin Wade placed 4th in both the shot put and discus, showing outstanding strength! Bentley Coday secured 6th place in the discus, rounding out a powerful showing in the field events. Both of our 4x800 meter relay teams placed in the top 8! These student-athletes represented Swain Middle School with "Their Best & Then Some," and we couldn't be more proud of their grit and performance at the highest level!

🌟 8th Grade Charleston Trip Highlights! 🌟 Our 8th grade students had an unforgettable time exploring Charleston, South Carolina! From the beach to Top Golf, Fort Sumter, the Charleston Market, and so many other adventures, the trip was packed with fun, learning, and lasting memories. Even more impressive than the sights was the way our students represented Swain Middle School—with respect and pride. They received multiple compliments from community members for their outstanding behavior, and we couldn’t be prouder. This trip was a celebration of their hard work, and they absolutely earned every moment. Way to go 8th Grade!

Swain Middle School SHINES at North Carolina’s National History Day Competition! Our students brought their best and then some and made HISTORY at the state level! Madison Weston and Marissa Hammons wowed the judges with their powerful group exhibit! Khloe Chapman earned the prestigious Women’s History Award—go Khloe! Connor Walls and Levi Dunford crushed it with their project and won the 20th Century History Award! AND… Elsie-Mae Clayton took 1st place overall in the Individual Exhibit category. Elsie-Mae is heading to Washington, D.C. this June to represent North Carolina at the National History Day Finals! We couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, passion, and excellence!
