These 30-minute meetings will provide a valuable opportunity for you and your child to ask questions about transitioning to middle school, understand the school's expectations, and learn key information directly from our administration team. The available dates for these meetings are June 10th through June 12th, June 17th, and June 24th through June 27th. During these meetings, you will have the chance to discuss topics such as, extracurricular activities, school policies, and any other concerns or questions you might have. At this afternoon's school board meeting, three students from SMS were recognized as the 1% Better award recipients! Swain Middle School is so proud of Conner Bowman in the 8th grade, Daniel Brooks in the 7th grade, and Mellayna Schenck in the 6th grade! Thank you for giving your "best and then some"!
Yearly sports physicals will be held at the high school May 20th after school. Students need to update these yearly. Student-athletes will not be able to practice or compete until an up to date physical is on file with the athletic director. Some parts of the physical form need to be pre-filled out before seeing the doctor. Forms are available in the front office of the middle school or can be obtained by emailing bledford@swainmail.org

Swain County Board of Education has moved their regular meeting from Monday May 13 to Thursday May 16, 6 o'clock at the Board room at 50 Main Street
Mark your calendars. May 20th the high school will be offering free physicals. Your student athlete will need a physical to compete in athletics. They will not be able to practice with their sport until a physical is on file with the Athletic Director. Forms are available at the middle school in the office or a copy can be emailed to you. Some parts have to be filled out and signed before they are able to see the doctor. A bus will transport students to the high school after school to get these done.
