The Swain Middle School Band has had a whirlwind of activity over the past few months, with back-to-back performances and competitions showcasing their talent. In March, the 7th and 8th grade band showcased their skills at the WNC Music Performance Adjudication, hosted at Mars Hill University. They performed three prepared pieces, evaluated by three judges, and tackled a fourth piece they had never encountered before. Each judge awarded the SMS Band a superior rating, culminating in an overall superior rating for their outstanding performance!
In April, the band journeyed to Seymour High School in East Tennessee to compete against numerous other bands from across the eastern United States. Once again, they excelled, earning top marks and securing a second superior rating. Their stellar performance led to an impressive first-place finish in their category! Congratulations are in order for the SMS Band on their remarkable achievements this semester!
Mark your calendars for May 16th at 6:30 and join us at the Swain Arts Center for our final concert of the year. Don't miss the chance to experience our talented students firsthand.
