A Warm Welcome Awaits: Swain County Middle School Invites Rising 6th Graders to Orientation!
Crossing the threshold from elementary to middle school is a beautifully big moment in a young student’s life. It’s a time filled with bubbling excitement, a little bit of wonder, and perhaps a few natural jitters. To welcome our newest students with support and excitement, Swain Middle School is thrilled to host its 6th Grade Orientation on August 6th, 2026.
This special day is entirely dedicated to helping our rising 6th graders feel right at home before the official school year begins. The fun kicks off at 9:00 A.M. and runs until 1:15 P.M. Because learning your way around a new school works up an appetite, a complimentary lunch will be provided for all students! Parents can expect to pick up their smiling, newly minted middle schoolers starting at 1:15 P.M.
Walking into a Great New Year
We know that a new school year brings new routines, bigger hallways, and fresh faces. Our orientation is thoughtfully designed to ease that transition, ensuring every child feels confident and cared for. During the day, students will:
Explore Their New Home: Students will get to wander the hallways and get comfortable with the campus layout, so they feel like pros on day one.
Meet Friendly Faces: They’ll get to connect with their future teachers in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Practice the Day-to-Day: Walking through their actual class schedules and daily procedures helps take the mystery out of the new school routine.
Spark New Friendships: Through laughter, team-building, and fun leadership activities, students will bond with peers, ensuring they see familiar, smiling faces on the first day of school.
