Swain Middle’s students recite this mission statement each morning along with the Pledge of Allegiance.  This summarizes who and what we want to be as a school. We want students to be the center of all decisions we make, and we want to inspire individuals to be leaders who act with integrity and hold themselves accountable for their actions.  We hope that when students walk out of our doors for the last time, they will have made a few steps towards finding their voice in the world.

We are a Leader in Me school.  When you walk into our school, you might notice student-created artwork on the walls and on the ceilings.  Our students participate in clubs and occasionally speak to our student body during “Maroon Meetings”. Our Student and Teacher Lighthouse Teams help make decisions for our school.  This past year, our students expressed the major needs for our school: updated bathrooms on the 7th and 8th grade halls and a painted weight room; they happened over the summer.
