SMS Teacher and Parent Compact - 2026/2027

  • The Swain County Middle School Learning Compact (2026–2027) is an agreement between students, parents, teachers, and the principal that outlines each group's responsibilities for supporting student success. It promotes attendance, communication, academic achievement, positive behavior, and a strong partnership between home and school.

  • Swain Middle School's Model of Instruction provides a consistent framework for high-quality teaching and learning. This model emphasizes student engagement, clear learning targets, effective instructional strategies, meaningful feedback, and opportunities for collaboration, ensuring every student has the support needed to achieve academic success.

Public Library E-book Checkout

  • Access thousands of digital books, audiobooks, and educational resources through the Public Library's E-Book Checkout service. Students and families can conveniently borrow and enjoy reading materials anytime, anywhere using a computer, tablet, or mobile device.

  • Swain County Schools values strong partnerships between families, schools, and the community. The Family & Community Engagement program provides resources, opportunities, and information to help families stay connected, support student learning, and actively participate in their child's educational journey.

Swain Middle School Parent & Family Engagement Plan

Developed in accordance with Title I, Part A requirements, this plan describes how parents and family members are involved in school decision-making, student learning, and school improvement efforts.
