GEAR UP

Swain County Schools partners with a federal program called Gear Up and we're excited that Gear Up is about to start serving middle school students! The program is designed to enhance and supplement educational opportunities available to students and support them in career exploration and/or college preparation. Gear Up is an awesome resource, but in order to be effective, our Coordinator needs your help! She is conducting a survey to learn how best to serve our students so please check out the video to learn more about the program and then complete the survey at this link. If you complete the survey you'll be entered into a drawing to receive a $25 Amazon gift card! Feel free to reach out to Gear Up Coordinator Taylor with any questions!

Indian Education Meeting

Siyo Parents,


Our regularly scheduled Parent Meeting has been rescheduled a couple of times now, so due to the heavy load of responsibility of many parents and school personnel with their students involved in sports (which are all occurring now instead of being spread out over the Fall months as normal), we have decided to cancel this meeting and resume our regular scheduled meeting on April 21, 2021.  We will notify everyone of whether we may be able to hold an in-person meeting or a virtual meeting as we get closer to this date.  Our final meeting of the year to review next year’s grant, will be an in-person meeting, probably close to the end of the school year, more details to come about this.

Weather Warning - February 16, 2021

Swain County Schools will issue a WEATHER WARNING when weather conditions are or will be present that have the potential for delays or cancellation of school. WEATHER WARNINGS will be issued in advance so that our community can be prepared IF school is delayed or cancelled. The Warning will also alert our community to the possibility of weather situations during travel as well as for students who wait on buses. Please note that the WARNING does not mean schools will be delayed or cancelled, only that the possibility exists. Check all Maroon Devil media outlets for updates, delays or cancellations.
